I don’t hate this.
I guess Eibach sells a set of lift springs for the current model Rav4. Which is pretty cool that its not just a spacer lift. 1.5 inches front and 1.4 inches rear for the Adventure model which puts ground clearance around 10 peak inches. Fit a little larger AT tires on smaller wheels (19 inch wheels for an off-road model is stupid) and you actually have something that looks alright. Seems to work okay too.
Guy seems to still be getting 24 MPG average and it does okay on the trails
Sorry about the music...its terrible. Why is the music on these kinds of videos always the same?
Also it sounds like they cribbed !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for this one.
Here is a friend of mine christening her stock Ad venture model. Kind of impressive for what it is.

I still can’t get over how much I hated the last gen RAV4... I’ll take the AMC Eagle, please.

The last gen rav4. Guh. What a waste of a good name. Gen 1 and 2 were quirky and fun, Gen 3 was practical, versatile and quick, gen 4 was a warm bowl of paste. At least Gen5 seems to hit all the right notes.

That’s why they made the RAV look more like an angry 4Runner. Most people don’t need a huge 4Runner so if they offer one with some decent ability it’s a good idea. I drove it into the hall, it seemed pretty nice. I built the auto show booth the year it came out and our usual lead was injured in a motorcycle accident so they made me the boss.

I hate how much I LOVE the Rav4. Toyota knocked it out of the park.

That about sums it up. I wish the prime was decent off-road but the programing on the stability control it pretty terrible for off-road use. Could you imagine a 40 mpg commuter with enough trail chops to do anything that doesn’t require low range? win.

TBH this is one car that looks better in the photos than in person. I think they are absolutely hideous in person. The rectangular wheel wells and rear fascia do not work.

I think it looks pretty good. My main beef is how stupid wide they are. They looks smaller in pictures than in person. In person they just look chonky.

You’ve always been a RAV4 homer! =)

I saw a guy in a 2020 Outback this past weekend doing the BC Offroad trail that we did in the Rubi.
While we didn’t use low range more than twice over the whole trip, there is no way that thing had the capability to flex/clear some of those hazards.
I suspect buddy damaged his new car. He was with another Rubicon and a new Ranger 4x4, so I think he wanted to fit in with his friends and may have some ‘splainin to do when he gets home...

I love it - we have a last gen RAV4 Hybrid that’s a solid all around people hauler but man would it be sweet with a slight lift and big tires on it.
Yes that gen RAV4 is ugly as hell, but the motors on the rear wheels make it excellent in the slippery white stuff and I imagine it’d do well in gravel too. It’s my wife’s car so I haven’t been allowed to get very adventurous with it yet...

Would the Bronco Sport fall into the same segment as the Rav4? I think those two in their best off-road trims would be a great head to head. Throw some trailhawk jeeps in there too for good fun

I’ve driven one, as a rental. Chonky times 10! The 715-speed transmission is awful, the rest is very nice.
